C&J Construction & Roofing LTD installs, repairs and clears guttering across Wakefield and West Yorkshire. Blocked and broken gutters are the most common cause of damp walls, saturated brickwork and rotten fascias, and they are also the cheapest problem on the whole property to put right.

Gutters have one job, moving water away from your walls. When they overflow, rainwater runs down the brickwork instead. Over a winter that saturates the wall, brings damp inside, rots the fascia and soffit behind, and in cold weather the frost gets into the wet mortar and blows the pointing.

We carry out:

  • Full gutter and downpipe replacement in uPVC or seamless aluminium
  • Cast iron style and heritage profile guttering for period properties
  • Repairs to leaking joints, sagging runs and broken brackets
  • Realigning gutters so the falls actually run to the outlet
  • Complete clear outs of leaves, moss and silt, with downpipes flushed through
  • Gutter guards and mesh where trees are the problem
  • Soakaway and drainage connection checks at ground level

We recommend clearing gutters twice a year on properties with trees nearby, once a year everywhere else. Autumn is the important one.

Common questions

Questions about gutter installation and cleaning

If your question is not answered here, call 07927 976489 and ask.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Once a year as a minimum, twice a year if you have trees overhanging the roof. The autumn clear out after leaf fall is the one that matters most, because that is what causes winter overflows and frost damage. What is causing my gutter to overflow in one spot? | Usually a blockage at the outlet or a sagging bracket that has created a low point where silt collects. Both are quick fixes. If the whole run overflows the fall is wrong and the gutter needs realigning.Should I choose uPVC or aluminium guttering? | uPVC is cost effective and fine for most homes. Seamless aluminium costs more but has far fewer joints to leak, holds colour better and suits larger or more exposed properties. We price both so you can choose.

Customer feedback

What our customers say

5 out of 5 from 5 reviews left on Facebook by customers across West Yorkshire.

  • We recently had our roof replaced by Connor and his team, and I honestly could not recommend them highly enough. From the very beginning, Connor was friendly and professional. Communication was excellent throughout the whole job. Any questions were answered quickly, and we were always kept informed about what was happening. The work was completed much quicker than we expected without compromising on quality, and the finished roof looks fantastic. The team worked hard, were respectful of our property, and left everything clean and tidy when they finished. Thank you to Connor and everyone involved for doing such a great job.
