Who we are
C&J Construction & Roofing LTD is a roofing contractor based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, working across Wakefield, Barnsley, Pontefract, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax and the wider West Yorkshire area. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and what rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What personal data we collect
We only collect what we need in order to quote for and carry out roofing work.
- Information you give us through a form on this website, which may include your name, telephone number, email address, postcode, property address and a description of the work you need.
- Information you give us by telephone, email, text message or social media when you enquire about work.
- Job records, including quotes, invoices, site notes and photographs of work carried out at your property.
- Basic technical information collected by our web server, including the pages requested and the date and time. This is used for security and does not identify you personally.
Why we use your data and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract.
- To carry out and manage work you have booked. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep accounting and tax records. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
- To keep photographic records of completed work and to resolve any warranty issue. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in evidencing the standard of our work.
- To send marketing, where you have asked us to. Lawful basis: consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data and we never will. We share it only where we have to in order to run the business:
- Our website host and email provider, who store enquiries securely on our behalf.
- Our customer management system, used to track enquiries and jobs.
- Our accountant and, where required, HM Revenue and Customs.
- Scaffolding firms, suppliers and specialist subcontractors, where your address is needed to deliver materials or attend site.
- Our insurers and legal advisers, if a claim or dispute arises.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within twenty four months. Records relating to completed work, including invoices and job photographs, are kept for six years after the end of the financial year in which the work was done, in line with HM Revenue and Customs requirements. Marketing consent records are kept until you withdraw consent.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on servers within the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area wherever possible. Where a provider stores data outside the UK, appropriate safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum are in place.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed, the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object, and rights relating to automated decision making. We do not carry out any automated decision making or profiling.

Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.

This website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Form submissions are validated and sanitised on the server, protected against automated abuse, and stored in a database that is not publicly accessible. Access to enquiry records is restricted to authorised staff.
