Roofing in Leeds, what we see locally
Leeds is a slate city. The back to back and through terraces across Harehills, Armley, Beeston, Burley and Headingley were built with Welsh slate on relatively light timbers, and after a hundred and twenty years the nails holding those slates have rusted through. That is why slates slip in ones and twos every winter, and it is why patch repairs eventually stop being economic.
The larger Victorian villas around Roundhay Park, Chapel Allerton and Kirkstall often have complex roofs with multiple pitches, valleys, dormers and substantial chimney stacks, where lead detailing is usually the failure point rather than the covering. Out at Horsforth, Rothwell, Morley and Garforth the newer housing is mostly concrete interlocking tile with dry fix or mortar ridge.
We price each of these differently because they genuinely are different jobs.
